Seth Weinberger is a corporate lawyer, but he's also a father who thought, if kids could spend hours playing on Gameboy-like devices why couldn't they learn on them?

It's called the 'TeacherMate', reading and math lessons all crammed into a little device. Weinberger started a non-profit organization, taught himself to be a computer programmer and created the 'TeacherMate'.

The device offers instruction for each activity. Be it spelling or arithmetic. Recent studies show students who used 'TeacherMate' for a year had significant gains in phonics, word knowledge and overall reading scores.

No one is suggesting the 'TeacherMate' will ever replace books or teachers. The hope is that thanks to the device kids will appreciate both a little more.
