A Daytona Beach, Florida mother who had finished her Christmas shopping early lost the gifts she bought when the car she was driving was repossessed.
Anne Bright said she worked two jobs to save enough money this year to get her Christmas shopping done early for her 10-year-old daughter, Saniya.
She bought her an electronic scooter from Toys R Us and video games from Wal-Mart. She said she still has the receipts.
"I spent close to $400 and I have nothing to show for it," Bright said.
Bright said she borrowed her brother's girlfriend's car to go shopping, not knowing that she was behind on her payments.
Bright said the repo company struck after she had loaded the car with the gifts.
"I really feel like they watched me to see what I was putting in that car," she said.
Bright went to the dealership but was unable to find the car or retrieve her daughter's gifts.
"We gave them $45 and the key," she said. "They gave us a bag full of trash and a car seat. None of the stuff I purchased was in the car."
In addition, Bright said the dealership refused to tell her who repossessed the car.
"I don't know what I'm going to do. The money I have right now has to go to rent and pay bills and food," she said.
NBC affiliate WESH went to Daytona Auto Sales to try and look for the car Bright was driving.
No one answered at the dealership nor was the owner's home phone listed.
WESH also discovered that Daytona Auto Sales is not an accredited business and received a "C" rating on the Better Business Bureau's Web site.
