L'AQUILA, ITALY -- The African continent took center stage at the G8 Summit today. G8 leaders met with African leaders to discuss aid to the continent.

The leaders are expected to approve a new $15 billion agriculture program for Africa. African development has become an important item for the G8 and comes as world leaders continue to pledge to increase their annual aid to Africa.

Meanwhile, aid organizations operating in Africa say they're still pessimistic about the outcome of today's meeting.

"I think in a best case scenario, what we will see coming out of this food announcement is some genuinely additional aid and a re-balancing of the approach to tackling hunger and malnutrition," said World Vision's Patrick Watt.
