In the end, the school board voted to fire the assistant coach, who is the brother of the head coach at the high school. The board alleges Denny Howard posted the fliers containing racial overtones and tried to make them appear they were the work of a rival team's coach. Team members said they would not play if their coach were fired and left their jerseys on the floor at the meeting in protest. In the end, the school board voted to fire the assistant coach.
