The sister of Sahel Kazemi said their family is saddened and confused about Kazemi's death alongside former Tennessee Titan Steve McNair.
The family said it has no idea what would have led to this.
Kazemi was from Florida, where her family still lives.
"She was happy with him," said Sepideh Salmani, Kazemi's sister. Salmani said McNair and Sahel met in January at Dave and Busters at Opry Mills Mall, where Kazemi was a waitress. McNair was her customer.
Salmani said the two began dating shortly after.
"She said he was about to get a divorce very soon, about two weeks, I guess, and they were going to move in together," said Salmani.
Salmani said McNair and Kazemi were going to move in together at the condo where they were found shot to death. There is no divorce case pending in Nashville court.
Police haven't ruled anything out, including the possibility this may be a murder-suicide, but Kazemi's family finds that hard to believe.
"She was very loving," said Salmani. "She would never hurt a person."
Salmani said her father is trying to be calm but that her mother is angry.
Kazemi's body is being sent back to Florida for burial.
