CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago police say they're bolstering security around a high school on the city's South Side after a student was beaten to death.

But they are declining to give details on the security plan for Fenger High School.

Family members believe Derrion Albert was beaten on his way from school on Thursday for refusing to join a gang. But some witnesses say he was a bystander who was swept into a violent fight.

A vigil for Albert is planned outside the school Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, police are investigating the beating, including video purportedly taken by a person at the scene.

The video, which shows several people beating and stomping a person believed to Albert, has been turned over to police.

They say the video is being used to identify people at the scene.
