And did you notice the lion cub? "We wanted to evoke the glamour of 1930s Shanghai, an era of smoky, alluring elegance," says fashion and style director Jessica Diehl. The shoot took place on two coasts over two days. If you recall, last year's cover featured only white women and caused a stir for not including any people of color.
