Scientists find subconscious racism in television characters

Racial bias may be expressed through nonverbal cues, researchers report today in the journal Science. The scientists studied interactions between television characters. They found that even when the characters were having a positive interaction, the body language and facial expressions of white characters was more likely to be unfavorable when they were interacting with black characters. Moreover, this bias was transmitted to the viewer.
