From Variety:

Lee Daniels has set his sights on a new family drama, this time for HBO with author Amy Bloom.

The helmer of "Precious" has teamed with Bloom to develop a series about a multigenerational, multiracial family in Philadelphia. Bloom, an author known for both nonfiction and fiction works, is penning the script and will exec produce. Daniels will exec produce and helm the pilot, should it be picked up by HBO. Jimmy Miller and Sam Hansen are onboard as exec producers, and Miller's Mosaic banner is onboard as a producer.

Untitled project has been percolating for some time at HBO but is still in the early stages of development. Deals for Daniels and Bloom were recently finalized. HBO declined comment.

Daniels was introduced to Bloom when their mutual rep at WME sent the helmer some of Bloom's work. He immediately recognized the scribe as a kindred spirit.
