President Barack Obama is receiving a lot of heat from Republicans and conservative activists. Some argue that their opposition has more to do with his race and less with the issues at hand.

Former President Jimmy Carter said in response to an audience question at a town hall held at his presidential center in Atlanta, "I think it's based on racism. There is an inherent feeling among many in this country that an African-American should not be president."
