The Obama campaign is looking to add more African-Americans and other members of minority groups to its staff, according to Politico.

In a piece published Wednesday, Politico quotes from an e-mail sent by Stefanie Brown, who leads the campaign’s outreach, to black voters. She writes to her contacts, “The Obama for America campaign is in the process of really staffing up in states around the country, and I need your help to find qualified, African American candidates for some of these positions.”

It’s not unusual for presidential campaigns to make such specific appeals, particularly in the earlier stages of a race.
