GOP leaders are reportedly not happy that Tea Party favorite Rep. Michele Bachmann gave her own response to the president’s State of the Union address. They had officially chosen budget committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan to be the one to speak on the matter.

Furthermore, Bachmann’s comments about the founding father’s supposed commitment to ending slavery are being criticized as grossly inaccurate.

“We know there was slavery that was still tolerated when the nation began, we know that was an evil and a stain upon our history but we also know that the same men who wrote hose documents worked tirelessly until slavery was no more in the US,” remarked Bachmann.

Michelle Bernard, the president of the Bernard Center for Women, Politics, and Public Policy was surprised by Bachmann’s comments.

“Thank god she’s not writing the nation’s history books. If this is the Tea Party’s representative, I am confident that they will not get one vote from this nation’s black population,” said Bernard.

“It floors me because even as members of the Tea Party expound how much they love the constitution, they don’t even know it,” said Jeff Johnson, contributor to theGrio.com.
