BRIGHTON, Colorado (AP) -- A white supremacist group in the United States will be heading out on the roads to pickup litter.

The chapter of the National Socialist Movement is participating in an Adopt-A-Highway program in the state of Colorado. The group calls itself America's Nazi Party and it will be responsible for picking up trash along a 1-mile (1.6-kilometer) stretch of highway in a suburb north of Denver. A sign is already up in the area with the group's name on it.

A spokesman for the group, Neal Land, says the group is "doing good things."

State highway officials say they allowed the highway adoption because their lawyers said they could be in violation of the group's free speech if they issued a denial, KCNC-TV reports.
