Sidibe's mom steals spotlight on 'America's Got Talent'

Alice Tan Ridley on Access Hollywood
In this video, Gabourey Sidibe's mother, Alice Tan Ridley, talks about her performance on America's Got Talent, shortly after being eliminated by the judges. Ridley, who was is a veteran subway performer, proved throughout this season that her daughter is not the only star in the family. She claims that she is happy to have risen above the subway and is now hoping that someone will hire her.

"It was time for me to come out of the subway," says Ridley, "...and let the world hear the gift that God has given me."
The Oscar nominee's mother says that she did not only contribute to the show but that it has helped her career by giving her exposure. Sidibe was not present during Ridley's last day on the show, however she did send her a text message which read: "Mommy, you were great!"
