A new database in Richmond, Virginia hold records on slaves that helps descendants trace their ancestry. Letters, bonds, wills and court letters are held at the Virginia Historical Society. The documents are not open to the public. Curator Dr. Lauranette Lee is the curator and does slave research at the society. Each document has a name attached to it, and their is a search engine that links the slave to the location where the documents were found.
