December 1st, 2010 marked the 55th anniversary of the fateful day Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to make room for a white passenger on a public bus in then segregated Montgomery, Alabama.

Rosa Parks's refusal almost instantly became an enduring symbol of the civil rights movement and helped to inspire African-Americans fighting for true equality. Google commemorated the anniversary with the display of a school bus, and children from every race holding hands.
