George Junius Stinney, Jr. (South Carolina Department of Archives and History)
George Stinney weighed just 95 pounds at the time of his execution. He is the youngest person on record to be executed in the twentieth century.
Convicted of killing two white girls with a railroad spike in 1944, Stinney is now the subject of new efforts to clear his name. A South Carolina attorney and activist are hoping the state will reopen the case by the end of the year and dismiss the charges against Stinney once and for all.
Thanks to the South Carolina Department of Archives and History, theGrio has put together a series of haunting photos - including the actual chair Stinney was electrocuted in and the state documents of the young boy's fingerprints.
