CNBC's Shartia Brantley reports that investors got a read on consumers with earnings reports but government data dominated headlines this week. President Obama announced his jobs creation plan as the nation deals with a 10 percent unemployment rate. We received mixed news on housing. The government reported 31,000 homeowners have received mortgage modifications and Realty Trac reported November foreclosures were down 8 percent from the previous month. Americans got a little wealthier during the third quarter; net worth rose by 5 percent or nearly $2.7 trillion.
